Quick answer: A free trial lets your child have real live lessons with a teacher before you pay anything. At Quran Specialist Online, the trial lasts 7 days, no card is needed, and lessons are live, one-to-one and 30 minutes on Zoom or MS Teams. The teacher checks your child’s level, teaches a proper lesson and suggests a plan. You watch, ask questions and decide, with no obligation.
Written by Quran Specialist Online (QSO).
Before the trial: booking
- Fill in the free trial form with your child’s age, what they’ve learnt so far, and the course you’re interested in: Beginner Qaida, Quran reading with Tajweed, Hifz or Arabic.
- Tell us your preferred times. We schedule after-school, evening and weekend slots in UK time.
- Say if you’d like a female teacher. Female teachers are available.
- We confirm by WhatsApp or email, with your lesson time and the Zoom or Teams link.
There’s no payment and no card details at this stage.
During the first lesson
1. Introductions (a few minutes)
The teacher says hello, chats with your child to help them relax, and asks what they already know.
2. Level check
- Complete beginners: the teacher starts with the first letters of the Noorani Qaida.
- Children who can read a bit: the teacher listens to a few lines and notes their letter sounds, fluency and Tajweed.
- Hifz students: the teacher hears some of what they’ve memorised and checks their reading accuracy.
3. A real mini-lesson
This isn’t just a chat. Your child should learn something new, such as a few letters, a Tajweed rule or a new ayah, so you can see how the teacher teaches.
4. Plan and feedback
At the end, the teacher tells you where your child is, what to work on, and suggests how many classes a week would suit them.
What parents should watch for
Sit in. Parents can sit in on any lesson, and the trial is the most important one to watch.
- Does your child read for most of the lesson? In one-to-one lessons they should be reciting, not just listening.
- How are mistakes corrected? Look for teaching that’s gentle but precise.
- Is your child comfortable? Rapport matters as much as qualifications.
- Is the teacher on time and well prepared?
- Can you understand the teacher clearly? Our lessons are taught in English.
Questions to ask during the trial week
- What level is my child at, and what’s the next goal?
- How many classes a week do you recommend, and why?
- What should we practise at home between lessons?
- How will I hear about progress? (At QSO, through monthly written progress reports.)
- What happens if my child doesn’t get on with the teacher? (We’ll find a new teacher.)
- Are lessons recorded? (Only with a parent’s permission.)
After the trial
If you’d like to continue, choose a plan:
| Classes a week | Monthly price (UK) |
|---|---|
| 2 | ยฃ30 |
| 3 | ยฃ40 |
| 4 | ยฃ50 |
| 5 | ยฃ60 |
Every class is a live one-to-one 30-minute lesson. You can switch plans later if your schedule changes. If you decide not to continue, you don’t owe anything, because no card was taken.
Tips for a good trial
- Set up properly: a laptop or tablet, a headset and a quiet shared room. See our Zoom and Teams set-up guide.
- Choose a time when your child is fresh, not straight after a long day.
- Have the Qaida or Mushaf ready, if you have one.
- Try more than one lesson during the 7 days if you can. The first lesson can be nervous.
- Compare fairly. If you’re trialling more than one academy, use the same questions for each. Our guide to choosing an online Quran academy has a checklist.
Trial for siblings
If you have more than one child, each can have their own trial lesson. Children are often at different levels: one might be starting the Qaida while an older sibling works on Tajweed or Hifz. Booking them back to back at the same time each day keeps the routine simple. Tell us on the form, and we’ll arrange times and teachers to suit.
A note on safeguarding
Trial lessons follow the same rules as every other QSO lesson. Parents can sit in, lessons are only recorded with your permission, and the lesson only runs through the official Zoom or Teams link. A manager regularly checks lessons. Read more on our safeguarding page.
