Online Quran Classes in London, Planned Around Your Family’s Week
If you’re raising children in London, you’ll know how full the week gets. There’s the school run, work, the commute home, homework, tea and bedtime. Somewhere in all of that, you want your child to learn the Quran properly, and you want it to stay with them.
It’s a common story. The weekend class helps, but by the following Saturday half of it has gone. Or the nearest class means another trip across town at the end of a long day.
Quran Specialist Online is an online academy, so nobody has to travel. Your child learns from your own home in live one-to-one lessons with a qualified teacher, on Zoom or MS Teams. Lessons are about 30 minutes: long enough to make real progress, and short enough to fit into a school night.
Lesson times that fit a London day
All our UK lessons are booked in UK time. We offer after-school, evening and weekend slots, so you can choose what suits your household rather than rearranging everything around a class.
The UK switches between Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in winter and British Summer Time (BST) in summer. The clocks go forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October. Our UK slots are set in UK time and adjusted for GMT and BST. If you ever want to double-check a time, just send us a WhatsApp message.
Some families like a short lesson soon after school, before tiredness sets in. Others prefer after dinner, or a calmer weekend morning. Tell us what works when you book your trial.
One-to-one teaching for very different starting points
London’s Muslim community is large and very mixed. In the 2021 Census, 15.0% of Londoners described themselves as Muslim. That means families come to us from very different places: some children have never seen the Arabic letters, and some read fluently but have picked up habits that need gentle correcting.
One-to-one teaching means each learner starts where they actually are. Our London families include:
- Young children from around age 4, starting with short, gentle lessons. See our kids’ Quran classes.
- Older children who already read, but need their Tajweed corrected before mistakes become habits.
- Sisters and daughters who would rather learn with a woman. Our female Quran teachers are available on request.
- Adults and reverts who want to start from the beginning, or come back to the Quran after years away, without feeling rushed or judged.
What your child can learn
- Noorani Qaida: the Arabic letters, how they join, and the vowel sounds. This is where most beginners start.
- Quran reading with Tajweed: correct pronunciation and the rules of recitation, taught a little at a time.
- Hifz (memorisation): for students who already read steadily, using a structured routine of new lessons and regular revision.
- Islamic studies basics for children: our kids’ course outline includes wudu, Salah, the six kalmas, daily sunnah duas, memorising ten surahs and basic Islamic manners.
How a lesson works
Your child joins their teacher on a live video call, on Zoom or MS Teams, just the two of them. It’s never a recording. The teacher listens to every letter, corrects mistakes as they happen, and moves on only when your child is ready.
You are welcome to sit in. Lots of parents like to stay close by for the first few lessons. Our safeguarding page explains how we keep lessons safe.
What a week might look like
Every family is different, but here’s one example of how a London household might use the Steady plan (3 lessons a week):
- Monday, after school: a 30-minute lesson before homework, while your child is still fresh.
- Wednesday evening: a second lesson after dinner.
- Saturday morning: a calmer lesson, when nobody is rushing anywhere.
Three short lessons spread across the week tend to stick better than one long session squeezed in on a Saturday. Your child keeps reading while the last lesson is still fresh, and the teacher can pick up mistakes before they settle in.
If your week changes, as London weeks often do, message us and we’ll talk through your options.
What you need at home
You don’t need anything special:
- A laptop, tablet or phone with Zoom or MS Teams (both free).
- A steady internet connection.
- A quiet corner, away from the TV and younger siblings, if you can manage it.
A laptop or tablet is easiest, because the screen is big enough to see the page clearly, but a phone works too.
Headphones can help in a busy flat or a shared room, but they’re not essential.
Keeping your child keen
Children rarely lose interest in the Quran itself. They lose interest when lessons feel too long, too hard or too rushed. Short one-to-one lessons help with all three. At home, small things help too: praising effort rather than speed, asking your child to read you one line they learned that day, and keeping lesson times regular so it simply becomes part of the week.
