Online Quran Classes in Manchester with Female Teachers for Sisters and Daughters

Sometimes a mother gets in touch about her daughter, then quietly admits she’d like some lessons for herself.

Maybe you learned to read as a child, but you’ve lost your confidence since. Maybe you were never taught Tajweed at all. Maybe you’ve simply never felt comfortable reading in front of a male teacher. None of this is unusual, and none of it is a reason to put it off any longer.

Quran Specialist Online offers live, one-to-one Quran lessons with female Quran teachers for sisters and girls. You learn at home, on Zoom or MS Teams, at a time you choose.

Learning with a female teacher

Our female teachers understand what women and children need to feel at ease. Because lessons are one-to-one, it’s only you and your teacher. There’s no class watching, and no pressure to keep up with anyone else.

She works at your level and your pace. If you need to go back to the letters, you go back to the letters. If you read well but your pronunciation needs work, that’s where she starts.

For girls, we have a page just for female Quran tutors for kids, and a longer guide for parents of daughters who’d like a female teacher.

Mothers and daughters, side by side

It works well for more than one person in a family to learn: a daughter has her lesson, then her mother has hers, each at the right level.

When more than one person in a family learns with us, you can get a family discount of up to 20%.

Manchester has a large Muslim community. In the 2021 Census, 122,962 residents described themselves as Muslim, about 22.3% of the city. Even so, finding a female teacher whose times match your own week isn’t always easy. Online lessons remove that problem.

What you and your daughter can learn

  • Noorani Qaida: the starting point for anyone who can’t yet read Arabic, from around age 4 to adults.
  • Quran reading with Tajweed: reading clearly and correctly, with the rules of recitation explained simply.
  • Hifz: memorisation for steady readers, with planned revision.
  • Islamic studies basics for girls: our kids’ course includes wudu, Salah, the six kalmas, daily sunnah duas, ten surahs and Islamic manners.

Times that work for Manchester families

Lessons are booked in UK time. We offer after-school, evening and weekend slots, and you choose the times that suit you. Our UK slots are adjusted for GMT and BST. The clocks go forward on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October.

Because lessons are online, you don’t need to arrange childcare or travel. A 30-minute lesson takes 30 minutes.

A safe space for girls

Parents are welcome to sit in on their child’s lessons, especially at the start. Our safeguarding page explains how we keep lessons safe.

What your first lesson will feel like

A lot of sisters feel nervous before their first lesson, especially if it’s been years since they last read. It helps to know what to expect.

Your teacher will start by getting to know you and listening to where you are. If you can read, she’ll ask you to read a little. If you can’t yet, she’ll start with the first letters. Either way, she’s there to work out the right starting point, not to test you.

From there, she’ll plan lessons around your level and your pace. You can ask her to slow down, go back, or explain something again. That’s what one-to-one lessons are for.

Making time for your own learning

Mothers often put their own learning last. If that sounds familiar, a few small changes can help:

  • Pick a fixed time. The same slot each week turns a good intention into a habit.
  • Keep it short. A 30-minute lesson is easy to protect, even in a busy week.
  • Read a little every day. Even five minutes of practice between lessons makes a difference.
  • Learn alongside your daughter. Children love seeing their parents learn too, and it gives you something to share.

Learning privately at home

Some sisters are very private about their learning, and that’s completely understandable. Learning at home helps. You can choose a time when the house is calm, perhaps when the children are at school or asleep, and sit somewhere you feel comfortable.

Because every lesson is one-to-one with a female teacher, nobody else is listening. You can make mistakes, ask questions and repeat a line as often as you need. Over time, that quiet confidence is what lets you read in front of others, at the masjid or with your family, without feeling self-conscious.

What you need

  • A laptop, tablet or phone with Zoom or MS Teams (both free).
  • A steady internet connection.
  • A quiet place to sit for about 30 minutes.

If you’re learning alongside your daughter, you can each use your own device or take turns at the same one.
